SOCIAL-ECONOMIC CONDITIONS IMPACT ON THE PREVALENCE OF ENAMEL DEVELOPMENTAL DEFECTS

Abstract:

The processes of organic matrix formation, their
mineralization and maturation can be disturbed by
different endogenous and exogenous factors. The aim of
our study was to establish the prevalence of enamel
developmental defects in school community of Iasi and the
correlation between the prevalence, social and economic
conditions as potential risk factor. The research showed
that the prevalence of enamel developmental defects
according t o S COTS i ndex w as 6 .7%. T he l ogistic
regression confirms significant statistical differences
between enamel developmental defects and socialeconomic
conditions (p=0.039).
