BRIVUDINE IN THE THERAPY OF HERPES ZOSTER EXPERIENCE OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE CLINIC OF IASI IN YEAR 2006

Abstract:

The purpose of the paper was to signal the good resultso btained with brivudine, antiherpes solution of last generation, in the treatment of herpes zoster. Material and method There were retrospectively studied the observation sheets of 16 cases of herpes zoster hospitalized in the Infectious Disease Clinic of Iasi in 2006 that received treatment with brivudine. Results The cases came mainly from urban environment (12 cases) and were in majority males (9 cases); the location was frequency descending, intercostals (10 cases), facial (4 cases), branchial (2 cases); associated co-morbidities: diabetes mellitus type 2 (2 cases), chronic hepatitis (4 cases), arterial blood hyper pressure stage II (8 cases). The brivudine therapy was performed on a 7 days period with favorable evolution and lesion cicatrisation with local remaining minor hyperesthesia.
Conclusions The treatment adherence of patients (1 pill per day) together with excellent clinic results recommends brivudine as an efficient antiherpes solution.
