Abstract:

Purpose: This study was made for the evaluation of possibilities and limits of techniques for coronal extension associated to prosthetic therapy, assumed also as a plastic muco-gingivale method with purpose of recovering esthetic fonction. Material and method. The study was realised at a group of 76 patients, 46 women and 30 men, aged between 23 and 65 years old, who were coming at Clinics
for esthetic deficiencies due to muco-gingivale problems and they needed plastic surgical periodontal interventions for coronal extension as preprosthetic procedure, localised at maxillar frontal arch. Patients were submitted for a complex and complete clinical and complementary evaluation. They took photo frontal and profile, smiling and no smiling. Those were used to be processed on PC.
Results si discussions. The computerised tridimenssionalle analysis permetted identification of abnormalities of gingival contour in corellation with type of smiling, and at the same time offering the possibility to visualising the final aspect post operator accordingly with various schedules for treatment. Conclusions: The utilisation of computer simulation facilitated both: choosing of the correct alternative of treatments also visualisation for the results and for the patient a better understanting of treatment. The utilisation of muco-gingivale surgery techniques in association with prosthetic therapy is providing 100% success. When this way is not possible, the limits are due to biological local conditions: biotype of periodontium ,type of smile
