Abstract:

The aim of this study was to analyze – by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) – the hybrid layer in cavities restored with classic giomer in combination with two adhesive ethanol-based systems. Material and methods: The experimental series included 20 teeth, extracted from orthodontic and periodontal reasons, divided randomly into two equal groups restored in combination with giomer Beautiful (Shofu), namely: group 1 – Adper adhesive system Single Bond Plus (3M Espe) and group 2 – system Opti Bond adhesive Solo Plus (Kerr). Results and discussion: hybrid layer analysis has revealed differences between the groups, the hybrid layer average size being 6.81 ( 1.56) micrometres for group 1 and 4.75 ( 1.97) m, respectively, for group 2, p = 0.029 Conclusion: adhesives systems provide different results in terms of average size hybrid layer.
