CLINICAL AND STATISTICAL STUDY ON THE ORAL COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS VERSUS ANTI-DIABETIC MEDICATION

Abstract:

The study analyzes the existence of some correlations between the oral pathology of the diabetic patient and the type of anti-diabetic medication the patient takes.
253 patients with type II diabetes mellitus have been inquired by means of questionnaires. The registered data were statistically analyzed, and the incidence of certain aspects under consideration was calculated.
By following the status of some symptoms characterizing oral and dental pathology, the necessary dental treatment was established, in close correlation with the medication, diet, age of the patients and also age at which the diabetes had been diagnosed, all such interferences being statistically demonstrated.
The study focuses on the complex inter-relations between the type of anti-diabetic medication, diet, age, diabetes age and the oral complications that might occur, for further optimizing the dental treatment.
