Abstract:

Dental caries represent one of the main risk factors for gingival inflammation. This study is a cross-sectional clinical survey performed in schools of Bucharest on 1,600 school children aged 11 to 14 years. Silness and Loe Gingival Caries Index (GCI) was used for evaluating the implication of caries in the pathology of gingival inflammation.
The prevalence of dental caries (GCI > 0) was under 20%. The teeth mostly altered were the first permanent molars.
