Abstract:

The noises produced at temporo-mandibular joint (ATM) level are usually associated with its disfunctions. A correct diagnosis of joint disfunctions requires a complete anamnesis, a correct clinical examination, as well as paraclinical investigations. The present study aimed at identifying the presence and aspect of joint noises. Computer-analysis of the noises produced at the level of the temporo-mandibulary joint permitted to state the type and moment of joint noise occurrence. An analytical, cohort-type study was developed on a group of 63 patients (with ages between 16 and 89 years) who came to the Dental Prosthetic Clinics of the Faculty of Medical Dentistry – Gr. T. Popa University of Iasi. Ecomputerelectrosonography, together with electromiography and kinezimandibulography are used in investigations based on a modern paraclinical analysis system, the K7 System. Such an investigation also permitted to establish the differences between the joint noises occurring in the same patient, the type of movement executed when the noise occurs and, more than that, the movement axis on which it was produced.
