Abstract:

Diagnosis of the stomatognathic system disfunctions, generated by the alteration of the external pterigoyd muscle, requires complex clinical and paraclinical investigations. The study was performed on a group of 35 patients, who had to fill in a detailed questionnaire describing the debut of the malady, the characteristics of the disfunction, the maladies associated to the temporo-mandibulary disfunction. Minute anamnesis was completed by the clinical examination of the stomatognathic system. The observation was made that the symptom having convinced the patient to see a doctor was pain (80% cases), associated with crackling sounds (22.7%) and objective modifications of the muscular tone (28.5%).Tracing of the objective modifications of the masticatory muscles, especially of the external pterigoyd one, as part of the disfunctional syndrome of the stomatognathic system requires paraclinical investigations for the establishment of a complex and individualized therapeutical plan.
