AN INNOVATIVE PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATION FOR THE TREATMENT OF GINGIVAL HYPERPLASIA

Abstract:

Since hundreds and hundreds of years, medicinal herbs have been utilized all over the world as traditional means in the treatment of quite various diseases. [1,5] The physiological state of the oral mucous membrane is influenced by the general health condition, by various pathological or toxic aggressions the organisms are subjected to, the consequences being manifested at this level, as well. [1,5].
Even today, the most frequently employed preparations for treating the affections of the buccal mucous membrane are throat wash (gargle), concentrated solutions for buccal paintings, when the concentration in active principles per unit of surface of treated mucous membrane is higher.
The scope of the present study was to obtain an hydroalcoholic vegetal extract for its subsequent utilization in the treatment of gingival overgrowth induced by Nifedipine, Cyclosporine A and Fenitoine drugs, testing of product’s toxicity on laboratory animals and evaluation of its efficiency.
