Abstract:

Upper molars often present anatomic variations of their canal and root anatomy, the most studied and frequent one being the mesiobuccal root of the first upper molar. However, the most unexpected variations appear in the palatal root. Quite often, these features are making the treatment of upper molars extremely challenging. The present case report describes the diagnosis and treatment of a first upper molar with 3 canals in the mesiobuccal root and 2 canals in the palatal root.
